MIAMI, FL - Lionel Messi continued his reign of dominance, leading Inter Miami to a stunning 3-1 victory over the reigning MLS Cup champions, LAFC, in the first leg of the Western Conference Semifinals on Tuesday night.

LAFC managed to pull one back through a header from Aaron Long in the 90th minute, but it was too little too late. The final whistle blew with Inter Miami holding a comfortable 3-1 lead, leaving the LAFC fans stunned and their team facing an uphill battle in the second leg.

"We knew it was going to be tough coming here against LAFC, but the guys were incredible tonight," said Inter Miami coach Tata Martino. "Messi, he's special. He's making a difference for this team, and we're just happy to have him."

Messi, speaking after the game, said: "I’m so proud of the team. We fought hard, and we deserved to win. It's important to get this victory on the road, and we're looking forward to the second leg."
