The organization cites studies showing that the residual heat from a cooled oven can raise the temperature of a room by several degrees.

"Many pensioners are struggling to afford their heating bills, and we're determined to provide them with practical and affordable solutions," said NPA spokesperson, Sarah Jones. "Leaving the oven door open just a crack after cooking can make a real difference in their homes' temperature, especially on those cold winter nights."

The NPA stresses that this method should be used carefully and responsibly, as it is crucial to ensure the oven is completely cooled down before leaving the door open. The organization also recommends using a low-energy light bulb inside the oven to provide a visual indicator that it's still warm.

This unconventional approach has generated mixed reactions. While some pensioners are receptive to the idea, others remain skeptical.

"I'm not sure I'd be comfortable leaving my oven door open," says 75-year-old Margaret Smith. "I wouldn't want to risk a fire hazard, even if it's just a tiny crack."

The NPA acknowledges these concerns but insists that the method is safe when used correctly. "We are not recommending leaving the oven door open while it's still hot," emphasizes Jones.
